COVID-19 Test

Certain tests have been successful in identifying a COVID-19 patient. These tests include, the COVID-19 RT-PCR test, and the high-resolution computed tomography manifestations of COVID-19 infections in patients. These tests help in identifying a person as coronavirus positive identity. The tests are highly helpful in detecting the infection, as many patients can be asymptomatic.

The COVID-19 RT-PCR test

The COVID-19 RT-PCR test is a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) test for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2 in upper and lower respiratory specimens collected from individuals suspected of COVID 19. Results are for the identification of SARS-CoV-2 RNA. The SARS-CoV-2 RNA is generally detectable in respiratory specimens during the acute phase of infection. Positive results are indicative of the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA. Thus this test helps in detection of the viral infection.

HRCT

This involves the High-resolution computed tomography manifestations of COVID-19 infections in patients. The continuous testing has shown that chest HRCT manifestations in patients with COVID-19 are related to patient’s age, and HRCT signs may be milder in younger patients. Thus this might show the signs of the infection, but is not a sure shot way.

Antibody Test

An antibody test is a screening for things called antibodies in your blood. Your body makes these when it fights an infection, like COVID-19

Who Should Get an Antibody Test?
If you think you might have come into contact with the coronavirus, or if you’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and have fully recovered, you can probably get tested for antibodies.

ICMR guidelines and ICMR Isolation

In order to contain the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), some precautionary measures are required to be taken by all the employees and the Ministries/Departments. In this regard, the advisory board of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India has decided on a set of guidelines. These guidelines are meant to protect the citizens of the country, when followed properly and reduce the spread of the virus. The guidelines require the closing down of gyms, restaurants and other public places so that people cannot mingle freely. This restriction curbs the community spreading of the virus. Moreover the guidelines pronounce the mandatory use of thermal scanners at all offices and government buildings to check the body temperature of the employees. ICMR further mentions more guidelines on isolation and precautions to be taken for home quarantine. The preventive measures mentioned for isolation involve maintaining 6 feet distance in public and staying at home until absolutely necessary to leave.

Both the general guidelines for public sectors and the isolation guidelines for every citizen prioritise the fact that the graph of the coronavirus must be brought down to save the country and its men.
